About a year ago “MT” started showing up on my Twitter feed. I Googled it and discovered it meant “Modified Tweet”. I was pretty pumped because it was going to be fairly useful.
I am sure you’ve found yourself wanting to Retweet a post but once the original users’ name was included in the tweet, you were way over 140-characters. This is a great way to share the content you want with your users and still give credit to the original person who tweeted it.
MT @ESPNStatsInfo Source says Josh Hamilton signing 5-year deal w/#Angels. He's 1st FA coming off 40-HR, 120-RBI season since A Rodriguez.

Source says Josh Hamilton signing 5-year deal with Angels. Hamilton is 1st free agent coming off 40-HR, 120-RBI season since Alex Rodriguez.

Because the tweet was too long, I was able to condense some things. Instead of writing out “with” I used “w/”, for “Free Agent” I used “FA”, and used “A Rodriguez” instead of writing “Alex.”
These are all simple changes to make it all fit and keep the users’ handle.
